Pre/Post Operative Skin Care

We believe it is very important for the skin to be at its optimal health prior to facial surgery. Preparing the skin so that it enters the procedure at its optimal health and functioning, as well as post-surgery maintenance, to help promote the healing process, helps to enhance successful results of the procedures.

Pre and Post Operative Treatments.

The first facial is designed to prepare the patient’s skin for the upcoming surgery. After assessing the skin we have developed a customized treatment plan that includes a deep exfoliation using a combination of hydroxy acids and amino acids. This active exfoliating treatment leaves the skin prepared for our next step. The process could include, extractions to help remove debris from the pores and a mask to facilitate hydration, softening, or absorption to equilibrate the texture and internal structure of the skin. When the pores are clear and the texture of the epidermis is balanced, the skin will maintain hydration that promotes cell regeneration, desensitization, and boosts the ability of the skin to fight infection. The patient undergoes lymphatic drainage treatment, which assists with proper functioning of the body’s immune process, the transport of nourishment to the cell, and the removal of toxins and waste products from the cells, all systems that are integral to the healing process of the body and skin. Assistance is also provided in selecting and applying our specially formulated mineral make-up by Jane Iredale for camouflage after surgery.

At six to eight weeks, the patient will probably be experiencing numbness as the healing process continues and the tissues are rebuilding. This is an excellent time for a thorough cleansing of the skin but without harsh exfoliation that would be over stimulating. After the cleansing, antibacterial or anti-inflammatory product may be applied. This treatment is used with hydrating and desensitizing serums rich in antioxidants.

At twelve weeks, our third treatment is a more advanced version of the second in accordance to the healing process of the individual. This facial may include an active mild exfoliating treatment with amino acids, light to medium extractions, lymphatic massage and calming hydrating mask. During every step of this program, detailed instructions will be given to the client regarding their at-home regimen of skin care.
