Tummy Tuck in Inland Empire
Abdominoplasty, commonly referred to as tummy tuck surgery, can be an excellent procedure to address the excess stomach skin and soft tissue on the abdominal wall, as well as the laxity of the abdominal muscles. For many individuals, trying to get rid of excess stomach skin in the abdominal area is a frustrating process.
Even the most rigorous exercise routines and diet regimens often fail to yield positive results. Tummy tuck surgery from our board-certified plastic surgeon can resolve these concerns and give you a flatter, firmer, more fit-looking abdomen. This advanced treatment is a very popular option among both women and men, and is often utilized as part of a comprehensive Mommy Makeover procedure.
Dr. Punjabi has many Inland Empire tummy tuck patients who wish to reduce excess fat, sagging skin, and stretch marks.
Dr. Punjabi can help you achieve your appearance goals by reshaping and re-contouring your abdominal area by various surgical techniques, such as abdominoplasty or liposuction with dermolipectomy (removal of excess skin). Sometimes no amount of exercise or calorie counting can help with excess tummy fat.
Tummy tuck surgery can make your stomach tighter, slimmer, smoother, and overall more fit-looking. If,
like many other Inland Empire patients, you are interested in an overall body rejuvenation, tummy tuck can be combined with other procedures such as liposuction or breast implants for a sexier look. Although the incision required for tummy tuck surgery is longer than other cosmetic surgery procedures, the resultant scar typically starts very, very low across the lower abdomen just above or into the pubic hair area. It usually can be easily hidden by a modest bikini or undergarment. The tummy tuck procedure can also eliminate the previous scars from a hysterectomy, laparoscopy or even appendix removal surgery.

Before Tummy Tuck Surgery
Inland Empire cosmetic surgeon Dr. Punjabi will take a complete medical history and conduct a careful examination to evaluate your general overall health. Ideal candidates for this surgery are generally in good health, without any medical conditions that can increase surgery risk, non-smokers, and realistic in their expectations of surgery. Before doing the surgery you should also consider being committed to maintaining the results of your procedure with diet and exercise.
In addition, candidates for a tummy tuck should carry excess weight in the abdomen area that they would like to remove. Candidates should not plan on becoming pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight after the procedure.
Antibiotics may be prescribed prior to surgery to prevent infection. To minimize the possibility of excess bleeding, you will need to avoid taking drugs containing aspirin. You will also be advised to bathe with an antiseptic soap for several days prior to surgery.
Tummy tuck surgery in Inland Empire is performed using general anesthesia. You may be given medication beforehand so you will feel relaxed. The surgery may take 2-5 hours, depending on your overall condition. You may be released after a few hours, or you may require a couple days of hospitalization. A complete tummy tuck can be performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis using general anesthesia in Inland Empire.
The fundamental approach to a tummy tuck involves an extensive horizontal incision across the top of the pubic area. A second incision is made around the navel. The skin will be separated from the abdominal wall. Then, excess skin and fat are removed. The tissue connecting the navel may be removed which will alter the navel.
Finally, the muscles are lifted, re-positioned and sutured tightly together. The belly button is sutured in place. Drains are often inserted to eliminate fluid buildup, and firm elastic bandages are applied to the area.
Recovery: What to Expect
You may experience some discomfort immediately following surgery that can be controlled with a pain pump and/or pain pills. Some swelling is normal. You will be given special instructions for showering and changing your dressings. You may also be required to wear a support garment.
The recovery period usually lasts four to seven days and before returning to normal daily activities, when you’ll need to take prescribed pain medication and antibiotics. The speed of recovery depends on your physical condition prior to surgery; those with stronger abdominal muscles usually recover faster. Drains are used to prevent fluid buildup, and they are usually removed within 24 hours. You will be instructed to return for removal of sutures within 7 days. To promote optimal skin contraction, you will wear an elastic compression garment on your abdomen.
Within 6 weeks, you should no longer need to wear the compression garment and can return to full activity with no restrictions. Scars will fade as they heal over the next several months and should be protected from the sun to prevent darkening.
Though the recovery period is longer than that of other cosmetic procedures, the rewards are great for a patient previously distressed by a protruding abdomen. Those who follow a proper exercise routine and healthy diet will benefit from tummy tuck surgery the most.
